When will (or are) Prevacid or Nexium going to be available as a generic?

Prevacid (lansoprazole) is currently due to come off government grant (and thus be available for a generic version) in the latter segment of 2008.

Lansoprazole is due stale in around 2 years, if not sooner. Esomeprazole (Nexium) have only be on the market for going on for 4 or 5 years, so there;'s a long approach to go back a generic forms available.
Why do you ask? How much do you have to rate for prescriptions? Can you buy omeprazole over the counter yet where on earth you are (its chemically extremely similar to Nexium - just for a while split of mirror molecules).
